Each event involves 20 young people who compete for 10 calves released in the arena. The winners receive a $1,000 certificate for the purchase of a purebred beef or dairy heifer. The young people are supervised in raising their animals by their FFA or 4-H club leaders. During the year, the winners are encouraged to show their heifer at breed shows or county fairs.

Foundation Patrons: $1,000 for one calf will receive the following:

• Name recognition by the Rodeo Announcer during the Calf Scramble Event.
• Name recognition in the SRS Rodeo program as a Foundation Patron.
• Two rodeo tickets to one performance that will include the Calf Scramble Event.
• Periodical newsletters and progress reports during the year from the Calf Scramble Committee.
